Ask Yourself These Two Questions:

1.  Has the check been sent to you with a letter from a company, lottery, or person you may not know?

2.  Do you need to deposit it and then send a portion to someone else as “payment”, “deposit”, “taxes”, or for some other reason?

If so, please talk to a Member Service Representative.  If you receive a fraudulent check, deposit it and use the funds, you will still be liable -even after a check hold clears for the funds you have used or sent to someone else that “bounce.”  Protect yourself and Bellco FCU by learning how to identify these scams.

For more information on how to identify potential fraudulent checks, go to http://www.fraud.org/tips/internet/fakecheck.htm.
